NEW USB Drive Enclosures

Storing data offsite is an essential part of any back-up procedure, whether it is for business continuity purposes or just to ensure your critical office files and lifelong collection of jpegs and mp3 files remains intact. Doing so has just been made a lot easier with the launch of the LINDY Drive Enclosure with its ‘One Push Backup’ function that enables users to create a portable external hard drive to quickly copy files at the push of a button. Available in two sizes, the bus-powered drive enclosure for 2½” IDE drives makes it also ideal for mobile users that need to backup laptop data on the move.

LINDY has made the drive enclosure obtainable in different sizes to allow users to install either a 2½” or 3½” IDE drive (not supplied) of their choice into the robust, stylish aluminium casing. It connects via a high speed USB 2.0 interface and allows users to copy data from an internal hard drive to the external one, ready to be transported off-site. Faster to transfer data than backup tapes and optical media, the LINDY Drive Enclosure is supplied with dedicated software that allows users to easily select the individual files and folders to be copied.

Backing-up data is one of those essential tasks that always seems to be the last thing you want to do. The ‘One Push Backup’ facility takes the hassle out of this mundane task and the portability of the enclosure means that it is easy to store the data offsite. English Housing estimates that about 273,000 households in England had a fire inside the house last year. Even just a minor fire can be devastating when you lose personal items and it’s often not until something major happens that you realise just how much valuable and irretrievable data is stored on a home PC nowadays. Seeing your computer literally go up in smoke can be heartbreaking if you’ve not backed up.
